Schools for the Future is a non-profit organization based in Sweden. It was founded in 2008 in order to facilitate the realization of a violence prevention project in El Salvador called Reading for the Future, which is being implemented since January 2010 and ongoing. The project is now run by a local team of dedicated co-workers.
The basic purpose of Schools for the Future is to promote a just and sustainable society through close co-operation with schools. It aims to empower people to influence their own future and the society around them. Schools for the Future supports democracy, human rights and a sustainable management of natural resources.
The Salvadoran Minister of External Relations, Hugo Martínez, handed over the award "Friend of El Salvador" to Minna Levin for the efforts of Schools for the Future to support the Salvadoran society and for fostering the relationships between the people of Sweden and El Salvador. Dear friends and supporters!
One quarter of the new year has passed already and a lot has happened in Schools for the Future, both in El Salvador and Sweden. For regular updates, please follow us on Facebook.
5 year anniversary!
Five students met up in Uppsala, Sweden in 2008 with the brave ambition to support educational development in the world. Our first goal was to launch a violence prevention and literature project in El Salvador, and we dreamed of one day having a stable, local team that would move it forward. Today, our Salvadoran team ensures the inclusion of over 100 children every year in our basic program, along with their teachers and parents. We are counting with a generous membership base and dedicated partners and sponsors. We see our impact grow, year by year, month by month. If this much could be achieved during our first five years, where can we then see ourselves another five years from now? We invite you to be part of shaping our future!
A summer party celebrating Schools for the Future 5 years will take place in central Stockholm on May 25th, starting at 16.00. Stay tuned for more information!
